Resume WriterAshleigh Hilker is a Writing Specialist for Begin Within. Using her experience in the Human Resources field, she will bring thought-provoking content to the Begin Within blog. After graduating from Virginia Tech in 2012 with her degree in marketing, she began her career in the nonprofit sector working as a fundraising guru for companies including The United Way and The American Cancer Society. During this time, she also married her college sweetheart and active-duty Air Force husband. She utilized her skills in recruiting volunteers at The American Cancer Society to switch gears and begin a career in Recruiting for Community of Hope, a nonprofit located in Washington, DC. This is where Ashleigh’s passion for getting the right people in the right places within the organization took off and she developed a motivation to explore the Human Resources field. She was recognized for her hard work in recruiting and was promoted to the Human Resources Manager role where she worked with managers to develop their teams and talent. The military had other plans for the Hilker family, so Ashleigh left Community of Hope and moved to Florida where she has been pursuing her master’s degree in Human Resource Management and caring for her two-year old son, Ace. In her free time, she volunteers with a local running club that supports fellow military spouses, enjoys spending time at the beach, and exploring new places with her family.
